The Art of Storytelling - January 24, 2022

Joe Bruchac

The second half of the 20th century and the early 21st century saw the virtual rebirth of this country’s least known “minority populations,” the American Indian tribal nations. Acclaimed author and classmate Joe Bruchac presented a discussion that focused not only on that, but also such important and related issues as the worldwide environmental crisis and the current debate about how American history is being taught in our nation’s schools. Joe, an internationally acclaimed storyteller and tribally enrolled citizen of the Nulhegan Abenaki nation, shared stories—and even a few traditional songs— from his more than half a century as an activist, teacher, and writer.
